About Us

Our History

Making the right connections can make the difference between a lengthy job search and finding the right career. Career Connections has earned its reputation as a dedicated network of professionals offering free consultation to the Birmingham community through its monthly meetings.

Begun in 2009 as the Career Assistance Network for Birmingham, we are a volunteer effort working to put career resources — community and career counselors, faith-based organizations, professional organizations (BSHRM) and staffing firms – in one place, easily found by those we are serving.  We like to think of ourselves as Birmingham’s one-stop shop for career assistance and career resources.

Finally, we are proud to have been chosen as one of the local ministries that Canterbury United Methodist Church assists with its funds, hospitality and prayers. We thank them for their valuable support as we dedicate our skills, talent, and knowledge to serving our greater community.

What We Offer to Those We Serve

Whether you are relocating to Birmingham, looking for a job or changing careers, you may benefit from being a part of the our network. Our evening meetings, held on the fourth Monday of each month, spotlight some aspect of career planning strategy, discovering career opportunities, using on-line resources, resume-building, networking, interviewing and other topics relevant to those who wish to advance career skills. Each program offers you opportunities to network, to learn new career skills and to gain game-changing advice from expert career professionals. After the meeting, our Linked-In presence, Career Assistance Ministry Network in Birmingham, AL, allows you to follow up on advice and the connections you have made. Attend Career Connections meetings to speed your search and maintain your motivation as you move forward.

If you have expertise to share, consider volunteering your time by speaking at one of our monthly meetings, posting on our Career Assistance Ministry Network in Birmingham, AL LinkedIn group (you’ll have to join the group), or leaving a note here in the blog for others to comment on.

Again, Career Connection Meetings are held on the 4th Monday of every month — go ahead and mark your calendars now.
